I found this good blog entry for the "Gimli Glider" incident. Google has a bunch more. Apparently no flight crew has yet been able to safely land a
sim of this incident.

Welcome to the board, jim4499! It's good to have you here.
Maybe it's like Star Trek history - the only successful solution is to hack into the simulator. |

"Star Trek history" - Wrath of Kan - the movie begins with everybody being killed in a simulation.
I first heard about this airplane incident when I saw a made for tv movie "Falling from the Sky: Flight 174". http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113018/ For some reason they changed the flight number. Most people probably thought it was a pretty lame film but as a frequent flyer it was like poking a wound for me. I kept watching it despite my better judgment. |

I actually remember reading about this incident before. Another amazing success story where some really talented and experienced pilots managed to pull it off.
So glad I haven't had anything like that happen to me.

It's been aired on Air Crash Investigations which is shown here in Oz on cable. They had a re-enactment of how he did it and it looked amazing.
